CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Tennessee (WATE) – A California man faces multiple felony charges after he was allegedly found with large amounts of illicit drugs during a traffic stop in Claiborne County.
On August 20, the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Highway 33 as part of its efforts to prevent illegal narcotics from being transported into the county and arrested William Calvin Lanum, 57.
He was reportedly found with over two pounds of methamphetamine, copious amounts of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, prescription drugs and psilocybin mushrooms.
Lanum, who is a convicted felon outside California, was also in possession of two handguns at the time of his arrest, according to the CCSO.
The estimated market value of the illegal narcotics allegedly in Lanum’s possession was approximately $ 350,000. He was incarcerated at Claiborne County Jail for several misdemeanors.
According to the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected in the future.
