NORRISTOWN – Montgomery County Police are on standby to collect all unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs as part of Medication Take Back Day, hosted by the Montgomery County Attorney’s Office and the Chiefs Association Montgomery County Police. The event, at participating county police departments and three grocery stores, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021.
“Since 2010, when this drug take-back program began in Montgomery County, we have collected and safely disposed of approximately 92,000 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. It’s an incredible amount, and certainly by taking these drugs out of homes we have avoided a youth overdose accident or worse, ”District Attorney Steele said. “With this day of drug recovery, we are looking to cross the 100,000 pounds mark. Residents should put the pills or the entire pill container in a Ziploc bag and drop it off at a participating police department. It’s so easy. “
Prescription and over-the-counter tablets and capsules, inhalers, creams, ointments, nasal sprays, pet medications, and vaping products are accepted during Medication Withdrawal Day and throughout the day. year in the permanent MedReturn boxes.
