Manufacture for The wheel of timeâAmazon’s $ 80 Million Fantasy Epic, adapted from Robert Jordan’s series of novels and slated to be next Game Of Thrones for the streaming network – began production in November 2019.
The team filmed outside of Prague, moving into a 350,000 square foot warehouse. Many sets have been built. One, The Two Rivers, the home of several main characters, was built almost in its entirety. And then it was set on fire just as quickly.
“It’s not like we can say, ‘Oh, you know, Game Of Thrones, season one, they only spent that [much money on each episode], ‘âMike Weber, executive producer of The wheel of time, Recount GQ in an interview. âThe public’s expectation comes from the last season of Game Of Thrones, not the first season. All of this meant filming nearly two seasons of content during 2019 and 2021 (production, along with everything else, was halted in early 2020). Amazon Prime Video even renewed the series for a second season before filming ended. They are all in it.
While the dates for Season 2 have yet to be released – the season, some of which appears to have already been filmed, is slated for release next year – we have nearly eight hours of television scheduled for the next two months.
