Mariah Carey’s children’s book The Christmas Princess


Some of us may still be picking up pine needles, but a new announcement is going to have us wondering why we have to wait so long for Christmas 2022: Mariah Carey is releasing a holiday-themed children’s book!

As if her hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” wasn’t enough to get us in the festive mood, the announcement that she’s releasing The Princess of Christmas, which is due out this fall (just in time for next year’s holiday season), for sure.

This isn’t her first foray into children’s books. It’s not even her first foray into children’s Christmas books: in 2015, she wrote a book about a girl who dreams of a pet dog in the aptly titled, All I want for Christmas is you. But for her next project, the story is semi-autobiographical – it even features a young Mariah who “doesn’t have much and doesn’t want much” but still struggles with loneliness.

She admitted that the book, illustrated by Fuuuji Takashi, is also about letting small imaginations run wild.

“Many of us have been drowning in ‘bleakocity’ for the past year and a half, why not create an enchanted land to escape to?” Mariah said.

The Princess of Christmas ($11) is already available for pre-order on Amazon Kindle before it hits libraries on October 25.
