Peaky Blinders Season 6 Characters

It has been over two years since the Shelby clan’s assassination attempt on Sir Oswald Mosley ended in failure and betrayal. But now Peaky Blinders Season 6, the final season, is finally here, in America! (He’s been out for a while on the other side of the pond.)

Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy said men’s health last spring when filming that the final season would be “gothic” – “Really big themes and big emotions.” And creator Stephen Knight has been promoting the finale for years. He once teased the final season as some sort of redemption arc for Tommy. “[It] will tell a different story, where Tommy Shelby – who starts out as this nihilist, only caring about his family – will be redeemed and become good.

It’s hard to imagine the series getting much bigger. Local disputes that began with just a shipment of stolen arms escalated into British false flag operations and Great Escape tunnels into Russian monarchy jewel deposits and parliamentary assassination plots, while Tommy and the Peaky Blinders battle everyone from local street gangs to the IRA to the Soviets to the Italians to the Scotts to the Fascist Party.

But season 6 is apparently even bigger than all that. And even as the deaths increase, the cast grows. There are more power players this season than ever before.

Returning to the cast are major cast members from Season 5, including Sam Claflin as Sir Oswald Mosley, Charlene McKenna as IRA Captain Laura McKee, and Neil Maskell as Winston Churchill. Anya Taylor-Joy also returns as the wife and niece of Michael Shelby to an all-new character, Jack Nelson, played by James Frecheville. Another addition is Amber Anderson as Lady Diana Mitford, a real-life socialite and future wife of Oswald Mosley.

An immediately apparent absence from the cast this season will be Helen McCrory, who plays Polly Gray. McCrory died in early 2021. The first episode is dedicated to her.

Here’s the main cast of Peaky Blinders Season 6, as they were first seen on that shipment of stolen weapons long ago, and as they are now.

Cillian Murphy (Thomas Shelby)

Tommy has come a long way since fixing horse racing in season 1. His character arc propels him to either salvation or fall (both of which can go through death) in season 6 – the approach from the end of the WWII series, which began with Tommy’s return from France, another World War. The growing trauma of these experiences is now pushing Tommy to the brink.

Over the show’s eight years, actor Cillian Murphy went on to appear in dozens of film roles. His next movie Oppenheimer will be his sixth collaboration with director Christopher Nolan and his first starring role in a Nolan film.

Paul AndersonArthur Shelby

Introduced as Tommy’s angry (and stupid) older brother, Arthur Shelby has undergone perhaps the most extreme transformations of any character on the show, going from hot-headed to hot-headed to hot-headed/hot-headed hot-headed.

Actor Paul Anderson continues to turn in an absolutely spectacular performance. He also appeared in episodes of The prince and Boy Top.

Sophie RundleAda Shelby

Throughout the series, Ada has been a continuous victim, both of Shelby’s own criminality and of plot convenience. Her first husband, communist Freddie Thorne, died of the plague in season 2, leaving her child fatherless. Her last boyfriend, a British intelligence officer, was killed by a car bomb last season, leaving her soon-to-be second child also fatherless. This season, Ada shines as the most capable Shelby.

Sophie Rundle also currently stars in Mr Jack.

Harry KirtonFinn Shelby

It’s not until Season 4 that Finn gets a real seat at the Shelby crime table; he is finally ready after the death of his older brother John. Since then, Finn has been something of a side character, until he accidentally drops Shelby’s plan to kill Oswald Mosley. But with the pervasive interfamily drama caused by Michael, this season may prove more important for the younger Shelby.

Harry Kirton is still a young actor, so look for him in other projects in the years to come.

First introduced in Season 2 as Polly’s long-lost son – not as a Birmingham underworld gambler – Michael has recently moved to Corleone. His lust for power put him in direct opposition to Tommy and will drive much of the family drama in Season 6.

Finn Cole simultaneously starred in Animal Kingdom. He was also in F9: the fast saga Last year.

Natasha O’Keeffe (Lizzie Stark)

At first, Lizzie was to marry John. She has since married Tommy and become something of a disgruntled employee of the gang – Tommy increasingly losing his grip. In Season 6, we expect Lizzie to once again play the role of whisperer Tommy, keeping the family together.

You might recognize O’Keeffe from lately as Intergalactic and The wheel of time.

Like Strong, Johnny Dogs has always been a bit…there. He’s been with Tommy since season 1, helping to smooth relations with the Lee family.

Packy Lee (Lee, the actor) has appeared in quite a few Netflix hits, including the witcher and The Frankenstein Chronicles.

Tom HardyAlfie Solomons

Birmingham Jewish Crime Syndicate leader Alfie has been Tommy’s nemesis every season, coming back from the dead for Season 5. With a common enemy in Mosley, however, it seems likely the two will continue this alliance in the new season.

Tom Hardy will return for Season 6 and will likely put on another electrifying Tom Hardy performance. The man never fails to deliver.

Ned DennehyCharlie Strong

We don’t see Charlie too much during the season, though he remains a mainstay of the Birmingham crime scene, having served generations of Shelbys.

Dennehy returns in season 6 for one last time. Foreign fans will recognize it immediately.

Benjamin Zephaniah (Jeremiah Jesus)

Jeremiah fought with Tommy during the war and has been a continued ally in each season, even if those actions call into question his role as a street preacher. Benjamin Zephaniah returns for season 6. He is best known for woozy but wrote and appeared in other projects.
